3 billion animals killed or displaced in Australian bushfires: WWF

Nearly three billion animals were killed or displaced by bushfires in Australia in 2019 and 2020, according to a study by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). This is triple the group's earlier estimates of 1.25 billion. Around 143 million mammals, 2.46 billion reptiles, 180 million birds, and 51 million frogs were harmed in the fires, the WWF added.
