Hackers broke into system by calling employees: Twitter on July 15 cyberattack

Twitter has said the July 15 cyberattack that targeted high-profile accounts occurred after hackers called a "small number" of employees in a phone spear-phishing attack. "Not all of the employees that were initially targeted had permissions to use account management tools, but attackers used their credentials to access our internal systems and gain information about our processes," Twitter said.
