Pollution levels dropped during 1st phase of lockdown in Pune: PMC report

Air and water pollution levels in Pune reduced during the first phase of the nationwide lockdown, the Environment Status Report (ESR) of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) stated. As vehicles stayed off roads, Nitrogen Dioxide levels dropped by 57%. Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) declined by around 50% as offices, hotels, among others, were closed and did not produce sewage waste.
